Niger State Government Secures Federal Approval for Kontagora-Rijau Road Reconstruction
The Niger State Government, under the leadership of Farmer Governor Mohammed Umaru Bago, has achieved a significant milestone with the approval from the Federal Government to reconstruct the vital Kontagora-Rijau road, spanning 90 kilometers. This development was announced during a visit by Governor Bago to the Sarkin Sudan of Kontagora, Alhaji Muhammadu Barau Mu’azu II, at his palace in Kontagora.
Governor Bago emphasized that the reconstruction of the Kontagora-Rijau road is integral to the state’s Urban Renewal Policy, aiming to enhance transportation networks and stimulate socio-economic growth in the region upon completion. During his visit to the palace, Governor Bago sought royal blessings and reiterated his unwavering commitment to fulfilling promises made to the Kontagora Emirate.
Expressing gratitude for the support received from the Emirate, Governor Bago underscored the importance of reciprocating the kindness and fulfilling pledges to the people. As a testament to fostering unity and brotherhood, Governor Bago announced his decision to celebrate the upcoming Eid-il-Fitr in Kontagora.
In response, the Emir of Kontagora, Alhaji Muhammad Barau Mu’azu II, commended Governor Bago’s developmental agenda for the state, affirming the Emirate’s steadfast support for his policies and initiatives.
During his visit, Governor Bago also inaugurated several projects aimed at enhancing infrastructure and community development in Kontagora. These projects included the remodeled Aliyu Tahir e-library, facilitated by the Chairman of Kontagora Local Government Council, Shehu Pawa; the new Office of the Kontagora Emirate Development Initiative, spearheaded by the Sarkin Sudan; and a 6-bed capacity health clinic, renamed after Governor Bago, constructed by the Commissioner for Rural and Community Development, Falalu Bako Bello, in Gangaren Saggi Community.
Commending these initiatives, Governor Bago emphasized the paramount importance of education in accelerating overall development, particularly among the youth.
The successful approval for the Kontagora-Rijau road reconstruction project and the inauguration of various development projects underscore the Niger State Government’s commitment to fostering progress and improving the lives of its citizens.
