AWOOF Foundation Transforms the Life of Motorcycle Accident Survivor
Ijebu-Ife, Ogun State – Adewale Suraju, a resident of Ogun State who suffered a life-changing motorcycle accident in 2009, has received a new lease on life thanks to the intervention of the AWOOF Foundation. The tragic accident left Suraju with a severely crushed leg, leading to fractured bones that were never properly aligned and rotting skin that plagued him for over a decade.
For 15 years, Suraju sought help from one trado-orthopedic doctor to another, but his condition continued to deteriorate. It was not until AWOOF Foundation, a philanthropic initiative spearheaded by Alhaji (Hon.) Waliu Owode, stepped in that meaningful progress was made. The foundation arranged for the amputation of the rotting part of Suraju’s leg, a necessary step to save his life and prepare him for a prosthetic limb.
The intervention aligns with the core mission of the AWOOF Foundation, which is to support individuals in dire need, particularly those with significant medical and social challenges. According to Hon. Owode, who also represents Ijebu East at the Ogun State House of Assembly, the foundation’s goal is to bring hope and relief to vulnerable individuals and communities.
Speaking about the assistance, Hon. Owode said, “This is just one example of what we stand for. We believe in restoring dignity and giving people a second chance. Adewale’s case is a reminder of how much impact we can make when we act with compassion and purpose.”
The foundation has also pledged to provide Suraju with a prosthetic limb once his wounds heal, enabling him to regain mobility and independence. The gesture has been widely commended by the community, with many praising the foundation’s dedication to transforming lives.
Suraju expressed his heartfelt gratitude to the foundation and its founder, saying, “For years, I thought this was the end for me, but now I see hope. I am forever grateful to AWOOF Foundation for giving me a second chance.”
