Governor Francis Nwifuru of Ebonyi State has commended the peaceful conduct of the local government and councillorship elections held across the state’s 13 Local Government Areas and 171 wards.

Nwifuru, who spoke after casting his vote in Oferekpe Agbaja, Izzi LGA, described elections as a democratic exercise rather than a contest that should generate conflict. He urged voters and political actors to allow citizens to freely choose their preferred candidates.

The governor also advocated for competitive elections, noting that credible opposition is important in a democracy because it can help governments identify shortcomings and improve governance.

He expressed confidence in the candidates of the All Progressives Congress (APC), while stressing the importance of peaceful participation throughout the electoral process.
