FG Uveils N365M Tertiary Institutions National Laureate Prize

The Federal Government has unveiled the Tertiary Institutions National Laureate Prize, an annual ₦365 million award scheme designed to recognise and reward outstanding academic research, innovation and intellectual excellence across Nigeria’s tertiary institutions.

Minister of Education, Dr. Tunji Alausa, said the initiative would encourage students and researchers to develop solutions with commercial, industrial and developmental value.
The prize will recognise exceptional undergraduate dissertations, Master’s theses and PhD research, alongside special awards in areas including Medicine and Health Sciences, Engineering and Technology, Agriculture, Law, Arts and Social Sciences, and Teaching Innovation.
A special ₦30 million Dr. Stella Adadevoh Prize for Medicine and Medical Innovation has also been established in honour of the late physician for her role in containing the 2014 Ebola outbreak in Nigeria.
The Federal Government said the programme is intended to reposition tertiary institutions as centres of research, innovation, enterprise and national development.
