Yilwatda argued that returning to fuel subsidy would undermine the economic reforms of the President Bola Tinubu administration, potentially bringing back fuel queues, reversing the minimum wage increase and cancelling education grants for Nigerian students.

He maintained that the government’s current reform agenda is intended to redirect resources previously spent on fuel subsidies toward programmes aimed at improving Nigerians’ welfare and strengthening the economy.
