Ijebu East, Ogun State — October 2025
Leadership, especially in the world of student politics, often comes with its share of sleepless nights, difficult choices, and countless sacrifices. For Comrade Ojikutu Abdul Azeez, President of the National Association of Ijebu East Students (NAIES), these challenges have been part of a remarkable journey—one that has now earned him well-deserved recognition.

During the recently concluded NAIES Summit and Award Day, Comrade Ojikutu was honored with the Outstanding Union Leader Award, a distinction that celebrates his unwavering commitment, resilience, and visionary leadership.
According to the NAIES president, the award was not self-sought but the outcome of a collective decision by his executive team, members, committee chairmen, and stakeholders who felt his contributions and sacrifices merited acknowledgment.
“Leadership isn’t something you do for applause,” Ojikutu reflected. “It’s about service, and sometimes that service is lonely, demanding, and tough. But every step was worth it because it was for the growth of our association and community.”
Leading a vibrant and growing student body like NAIES requires more than ambition—it demands vision, empathy, and the ability to inspire others toward a common purpose. Ojikutu admits that while the path was far from easy, it was a journey that strengthened his resolve and deepened his sense of responsibility to his peers.
To him, the award symbolizes more than personal achievement; it stands as a testament to perseverance and the quiet but powerful impact of genuine leadership. “This award is for everyone who believes that service still matters,” he said.
In a heartfelt note, he dedicated the honor to his mother—whom he described as his first teacher in advocacy—for her prayers and sacrifices, and to his cousin, family members, mentors, and friends who stood by him throughout his leadership journey.
Comrade Ojikutu’s recognition transcends individual success—it represents the collective spirit of Ijebu East youth determined to drive progress through unity, purpose, and active participation. His story is a reminder that though leadership may not always be easy, it is always worth it when driven by sincerity and service.
As he continues to lead by example, Comrade Ojikutu Abdul Azeez stands as an inspiration to young leaders everywhere—proof that consistency, humility, and vision remain the true hallmarks of leadership.
