Nigeria Assumes Chairmanship of UN Budget and Administration Committee

Nigeria has assumed the chairmanship of the United Nations General Assembly’s Fifth Committee, responsible for administrative and budgetary matters.

Nigeria’s Permanent Representative to the UN, Ambassador Jimoh Ibrahim, took up the role, pledging to promote transparency, accountability and efficiency in managing the organisation’s resources.  

The position comes at a challenging period for the UN, with the organisation facing significant financial pressures and budgetary shortfalls.
