PRESIDENT TINUBU PAYS TRIBUTE TO SIR ADEMOLA OSINUBI AT 70TH BIRTHDAY

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has paid glowing tribute to renowned media executive and former Managing Director/Editor-in-Chief of Punch Nigeria Limited, Sir Ademola Osinubi, on the occasion of his 70th birthday.


In a personally signed statement released on Monday, the President described Osinubi’s life as one marked by professional excellence, integrity, and a deep commitment to the values of principled journalism.


“I warmly congratulate you on your 70th birthday—a remarkable milestone and a moment of celebration for you, your family, and all who know you,” the President wrote.
Celebrating Osinubi’s legacy in Nigeria’s media landscape, President Tinubu reflected on his journey through the ranks of Punch, having joined the media house in 1976 and rising through hard work, resilience, and dedication to become its Managing Director and Editor-in-Chief. He led the organization for 27 years, a period that saw Punch navigate both innovation and turbulent times in the nation’s history.


“You are proof that success is attainable with purpose and vision,” Tinubu said.
“As the Managing Director and Editor-in-Chief of Punch Nigeria Limited, you led this media colossus… through periods of innovation and the challenges of military repression and closures.”
The President commended Osinubi’s exemplary leadership, not just in newsroom management, but also in upholding the ethics of the journalism profession, mentoring generations of journalists, and contributing to the democratic struggle.
“You have etched a fine print of excellence on the tome of journalism, and I thank you for your consistent pursuit of our nation’s progress,” Tinubu stated.


As Sir Ademola Osinubi marks his platinum jubilee, President Tinubu concluded the tribute with prayers for continued good health and longevity.
“As you celebrate your platinum jubilee, I pray that God Almighty grant you more years of good health.”
