Okubadejo Praises Abiodun as Ogun State Welcomes First of Two Government-Purchased Aircraft
Abeokuta, Ogun State – November 2025
Hon. Prince Dapo Okubadejo, Commissioner for Finance and Chief Economic Adviser to the Ogun State Government, has commended Governor Prince (Dr) Dapo Abiodun, CON for his visionary leadership and major strides in positioning Ogun as the “Gateway State”, following the delivery of the first of two aircraft purchased by the state government.

Speaking at an event in Abeokuta, Commissioner Okubadejo described the arrival of the aircraft as a milestone achievement that underscores the administration’s commitment to elevating the state’s infrastructure and connectivity. While full flight operations are still pending, Okubadejo said the purchase signals a shift in how the state positions itself for business, investment and regional influence.
“Today marks a turning point for Ogun State,” Okubadejo said. “Governor Abiodun’s bold initiative in acquiring this aircraft demonstrates that the state is serious about infrastructure, mobility and ready to compete at the highest levels.”
He noted that the aircraft will serve multiple strategic purposes — boosting the state’s ability to connect with global markets, enhancing official travel efficiency, and reinforcing industrial development around the state’s transport-infrastructure vision.

Governor Abiodun’s administration has been promoting a multi-modal infrastructure agenda — integrating air, rail, road and maritime transport — with the aim of unlocking the state’s full economic potential. The aircraft procurement is presented as part of that broader vision.
While the identity, model and acquisition cost of the aircraft were not immediately disclosed, the Commissioner confirmed the second aircraft is already under procurement and expected to arrive within the next fiscal cycle.
Political analysts in Ogun noted the move enhances the state’s competitiveness and signals greater ambition from the government. It also raises expectations for transparency and clear plans for utilization of the aircraft in service of public interest.
With this aircraft delivery, Ogun State takes another step toward transforming into Nigeria’s true Gateway State — a hub of connectivity, commerce and growth under Governor Abiodun’s leadership.
