PRESIDENT TINUBU CONGRATULATES AGRICULTURE MINISTER, ABUBAKAR KYARI, ON ELECTION AS IFAD CHAIR

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has congratulated the Minister of Agriculture and Food Security, Senator Abubakar Kyari, on his emergence as the new Chairperson of the Governing Council of the International Fund for Agricultural Development (IFAD).
Senator Kyari was unanimously elected on Tuesday to head the 49th Governing Council of IFAD, the international body’s supreme decision-making authority.
In a statement issued by the Special Adviser to the President on Information and Strategy, Mr. Bayo Onanuga, President Tinubu described the election of the Agriculture and Food Security Minister as a strong vote of confidence in his leadership capacity and in the far-reaching reforms he is spearheading in Nigeria’s agriculture and food security value chain.
The President noted that Senator Kyari’s emergence reflects the international community’s recognition of Nigeria’s renewed commitment to agricultural transformation, rural development, and sustainable food systems.
President Tinubu expressed confidence that Senator Kyari will provide effective leadership to IFAD and further deepen the organisation’s relevance and impact, particularly at a time when the world is grappling with significant food security challenges.
The President wished Senator Kyari a successful and impactful tenure as Chairperson of the IFAD Governing Council.
