IJEBU-ODE, Ogun State, October 15, 2026  | Alhaji Abdul-Hameed Femi Omotayo, popularly known as OmoOwo, has called on the people of Ogun East Senatorial District to prioritise competence, accountability and measurable results when choosing their representatives ahead of the 2027 general elections.

OmoOwo, the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) senatorial candidate for Ogun East, made the call on Thursday during a media parley organised by the OmoOwo for Senate Campaign Media Directorate at OmoOwo Hall, Ijebu-Ode.

Addressing journalists and campaign stakeholders, he said the district needed leaders capable of translating its economic and human potential into tangible development.

“In Ogun East, we talk potentials, we want results. So we need to send people that are competent to do the job,” he said.

Youth Employment, Healthcare And Education Top Priorities

OmoOwo identified youth unemployment, healthcare, education and economic opportunities as key areas requiring urgent attention in the district.

Drawing on his experience in the oil and gas industry, he stressed the importance of equipping young people with relevant skills and connecting them to employment opportunities.

He also highlighted the need to support local markets and small businesses, noting the importance of creating conditions that enable communities and entrepreneurs to contribute to economic growth.

His remarks placed employment generation and economic empowerment among the issues he wants to prioritise in his proposed representation at the National Assembly.

Fuel Subsidy, Oil Exploration And Proposed Ijebu-Remo State Discussed

The media parley also featured discussions on national economic policies and issues affecting Ogun East and the wider state.

Topics included fuel subsidy removal, oil exploration, the proposed Ijebu-Remo State, party unity and the constitutional responsibilities of a senator.

The discussions examined the role of legislative representation in addressing constituency concerns through lawmaking, oversight of government activities and advocacy for development projects.

OmoOwo maintained that effective representation should go beyond political promises and focus on the issues pursued and the progress achieved for constituents across Ijebu, Remo and Waterside.

PDP Leadership Reaffirms OmoOwo’s Candidacy

Among those present at the event were Engr. Ayinde Awobadejo, who represented the Ogun State PDP Chairman, Hon. Abayomi Tella, PhD, and delivered his message; Architect Kayode Adebayo; Mr Femi Davies; Hon. Wale Ogunbanjo; Hon. Wale Adedayo, former chairman of Ijebu East Local Government; and the Director-General of the OmoOwo for Senate campaign.

Speaking on behalf of the state party chairman, Awobadejo reaffirmed the PDP’s recognition of OmoOwo as its candidate for Ogun East Senatorial District in the 2027 general elections.

The engagement also provided journalists with an opportunity to question the candidate about his development priorities and approach to legislative representation.

Candidate Emphasises Accountability

The campaign said the parley was part of its engagement with the media and other stakeholders on issues affecting Ogun East ahead of the 2027 elections.

OmoOwo reiterated that the people of the district should assess political candidates based on their competence, commitment to public service and capacity to pursue practical solutions to the challenges facing their communities.

He stressed that representation at the Senate should be measured by legislative performance, effective oversight and sustained engagement with relevant institutions to advance the interests of constituents.
