Radda Says Direct Allocation of Funds Has Strengthened Grassroots Governance

Katsina State Governor, Malam Dikko Umaru Radda, has said the direct allocation of statutory funds to local government councils has strengthened grassroots governance by giving elected officials greater financial independence and the capacity to address the developmental needs of their communities.
Governor Radda made this known on Saturday, November 7, 2026, during the Tinubu–Dikko 2027 campaign rally in Matazu Local Government Area of Katsina State.

According to the Governor, the policy introduced by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has enabled local governments to receive their statutory allocations directly without deductions by state governments, thereby improving their ability to implement projects and deliver essential services.
Radda explained that direct access to funds had strengthened the financial position of local councils, allowing elected chairmen to execute community development projects, pay workers’ salaries and respond more effectively to the needs of residents.

He described the policy as an important step towards strengthening local administration and called for its continuity.
The Governor also commended President Tinubu for various federal government interventions, including the distribution of palliatives, financial assistance, fertiliser support for farmers and enhanced security measures aimed at addressing economic challenges and improving citizens’ welfare.

Highlighting his administration’s achievements in Katsina State, Radda said his government had implemented interventions across critical sectors, including healthcare, education, agriculture, road infrastructure, youth development and women’s empowerment.
He further commended the Matazu Local Government Chairman, Hon. Shamsuddeen Muhammad Sayaya, for executing more than 200 development projects across the area.

Radda also acknowledged the contributions of federal and state lawmakers towards community development, particularly their empowerment programmes and financial support for vulnerable residents.
The Governor urged residents to sustain their cooperation with government institutions and community leaders to promote development, accountability and effective service delivery at the grassroots.
His remarks formed part of the administration’s ongoing engagement with communities across Katsina State to present its development scorecard and discuss governance priorities.
The Governor’s statement was reported during the Tinubu–Dikko campaign rally in Matazu.
