The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Ogun State has alleged political interference following the omission of its governorship candidate, Hon. Oladipupo Adebutu, from a list published by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).

In a statement dated Saturday, October 10, 2026, the party urged residents to remain calm, expressing confidence that Adebutu’s name would be published and that he would contest the 2027 Ogun State governorship election.

The statement, signed by the Ogun State PDP Publicity Secretary, Arc. Kayode Adebayo, attributed the omission to alleged pressure from the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC). The party, however, did not provide supporting evidence for the allegation in the statement.

The PDP maintained that Adebutu remained a registered member of the party and had completed its digital membership registration within the designated period.

According to the statement, his party membership card was printed, verified and submitted to INEC within the stipulated timeframe.

The party insisted that the omission would not weaken its preparations for the 2027 governorship election, expressing confidence in its candidate and its political prospects in the state.

“The public should be informed that the omission of our candidate’s name in the INEC list is as a result of the undue pressure mounted by the ruling party,” the statement said.

The allegation has not been independently verified, and the statement did not include a response from INEC or the APC.

The Ogun PDP also called on its members, supporters and residents to remain focused on the forthcoming election, urging them not to be distracted by the development.

It described Adebutu’s candidacy as central to its campaign for political change in Ogun State and maintained that its supporters should remain steadfast.

The party further argued that political disputes and alleged attempts to frustrate its candidate would not alter the aspirations of residents seeking a change in government.

Reaffirming its position, the PDP said it remained confident that Adebutu would be included on the relevant INEC list and would pursue his ambition to become governor in 2027.

The statement ended with a call for unity among party members and supporters as the PDP continues its preparations for the next governorship election.

INEC’s position on Adebutu’s omission, the reason for the omission and any subsequent steps taken to address the matter were not contained in the party’s statement.
