Federal Government Intensifies Response Measures To Contain Ebola Case In FCT

The Federal Government has intensified public health response measures following the confirmation of an Ebola Virus Disease (EVD) case in the Federal Capital Territory (FCT).

A statement from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs disclosed that the case was confirmed on October 20, 2026.
According to the statement, the patient is a woman who recently arrived in Nigeria on an international flight from Uganda. She was subsequently admitted to a private hospital in the FCT, where she received medical care for several days before the infection was confirmed.
The Federal Government, through the Federal Ministry of Health and Social Welfare and the Nigeria Centre for Disease Control and Prevention (NCDC), is collaborating with the FCT Health Services Secretariat to contain the infection and prevent further transmission.
As part of the response efforts, 44 close contacts have so far been identified for monitoring. They include healthcare workers, other patients and individuals linked to the woman’s travel.
Contact tracing, surveillance and laboratory testing have commenced in accordance with established public health protocols as health authorities intensify efforts to monitor potential exposure and limit the spread of the disease.
