The Presidential Candidate of the African Democratic Congress (ADC), Atiku Abubakar, has pledged to reopen Nigeria’s land borders and restore longstanding bilateral relations with neighbouring African countries if elected President in the 2027 general elections.

Atiku made the pledge while officially flagging off his presidential campaign in Sokoto State, where he outlined his commitment to strengthening Nigeria’s diplomatic and economic relations with other African nations.

The former Vice President said reopening the borders would help revive cross-border trade, improve economic activities and strengthen cooperation between Nigeria and its neighbouring countries.

He also emphasised the importance of restoring mutual trust and maintaining cordial relationships with other African nations to promote regional integration and economic development.

Atiku maintained that his administration, if elected, would prioritise policies aimed at improving Nigeria’s relationship with neighbouring countries and creating opportunities for businesses and citizens across the region.

Bashir Ibrahim Nababa reports.
