Bauchi, January 30, 2026
The Bauchi State Command of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) has intercepted a truck conveying vandalised railway tracks and arrested five suspects in connection with the crime along the Bauchi–Jos Road.
The vandalisation of the railway tracks reportedly occurred around Gital town in Tafawa Balewa Local Government Area of Bauchi State.
Speaking on the development, the State Commandant of the NSCDC, Oloyede Nelson, disclosed that the arrest followed credible intelligence reports. Acting on the information, NSCDC personnel intercepted a long vehicle truck at Miri village along the Bauchi–Jos Road.
According to the Commandant, the stolen railway materials were cleverly concealed and disguised as bags of chicken feed and slippers in an attempt to evade security checks.
He confirmed that five suspects linked to the vandalism are currently in the custody of the Corps, while efforts are ongoing to apprehend the alleged mastermind behind the operation, as well as the truck driver, who are presently at large.
Exhibits recovered during the operation include 80 pieces of vandalised railway tracks, five pairs of slippers, several bags of chicken feed, one long vehicle truck, and a Lexus RX 330 vehicle with registration number BWR 60 DN.
The NSCDC reiterated its commitment to protecting critical national assets and warned individuals involved in vandalism and other criminal activities to desist or face the full wrath of the law.
