National Festival for Arts and Culture (NAFEST) Postpones Its 2025 Enugu Edition Indefinitely
Enugu, Nigeria , 22, November, 2025
The Federal Ministry of Art, Culture, Tourism and the Creative Economy has announced the indefinite postponement of the 2025 edition of the National Festival of Arts and Culture (NAFEST), which was scheduled to begin on Saturday, 22nd November 2025, in Enugu State.
According to an official statement issued by Nneka Ikem Anibeze, Special Adviser on Media and Publicity to the Minister, the decision was reached after a careful evaluation of the current national atmosphere, particularly the recent insecurity incidents that have caused widespread grief and disruption across various parts of the country.
The statement noted that the Minister, Hannatu Musa Musawa, after extensive consultations with relevant stakeholders, approved the postponement as a mark of solidarity with the affected families and communities, and in deep respect for the lives lost in the unfortunate events.
“The Ministry appreciates the understanding and support of participating states, cultural troupes, partners, and the Nigerian public,” the statement added. “Our commitment to showcasing Nigeria’s rich cultural diversity remains unwavering, and we look forward to delivering an even stronger and more unifying NAFEST at the appropriate time.”
The Ministry is expected to announce a new date once conditions are deemed conducive for hosting the national cultural festival, which has long served as a platform for unity, artistic expression, and cultural exchange across the country.
