Governor UBA Appreciates President Tinubu On Award Of ₦1.178 Trillion Strategic Contracts In Kaduna State
Kaduna, Nigeria — April 30, 2026
Kaduna State Governor, Uba Sani, has expressed appreciation to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and the Federal Executive Council for the approval of major infrastructure contracts valued at ₦1.178 trillion, aimed at transforming the state’s economic and social landscape.
In a statement personally signed by the governor, he described the projects as critical interventions that will significantly enhance mobility, security, and economic development across Kaduna State.
Among the projects is the Kaduna Light Rail Project, a large-scale initiative spanning corridors from Rigachikun to Sabon Tasha, as well as from Millennium City to Rigasa, forming a 50-kilometre metropolitan rail network valued at approximately ₦1 trillion.
Also approved is the reconstruction of the Mando–Kaduna–Birnin Gwari road, a 122-kilometre route estimated at ₦178 billion. The governor noted that the project is vital for improving connectivity, boosting agricultural productivity, and enhancing security in affected communities.
Sani described the Federal Government’s support for the light rail project as historic, noting that it aligns with the state’s broader vision of an integrated transport system, which includes a 24-kilometre Bus Rapid Transit (BRT) network currently under development.
He added that Kaduna’s selection as one of the few states to embark on a light rail system underscores confidence in the state’s readiness and capacity to execute large-scale infrastructure projects.
Highlighting the significance of the Mando–Birnin Gwari road rehabilitation, the governor said the project fulfills earlier commitments made to residents and will help restore economic activity and confidence in previously underserved areas.
He reaffirmed the state government’s commitment to ensuring the successful execution of the projects, describing them as long-term investments that will lay the foundation for a more prosperous, secure, and connected Kaduna.
The governor also commended President Tinubu for his commitment to equitable national development and continued support for Kaduna State.
