Jibrin Barau, Yahaya Bello, Katsina Speaker Win APC Senatorial Tickets

Jibrin Barau, Yahaya Bello, and Nasir Daura have emerged winners of the All Progressives Congress (APC) senatorial primaries in their respective states ahead of the 2027 general election.
Barau secured the APC ticket for the Kano North Senatorial District following an affirmation exercise conducted at the party’s headquarters in Bichi Local Government Area of Kano State.
The deputy senate president was returned unopposed during the exercise, which party officials described as peaceful and transparent. Supporters at the venue celebrated the outcome, expressing confidence in his continued representation of the district at the National Assembly.
In Kogi State, Bello clinched the APC senatorial ticket for Kogi Central Senatorial District. The former governor, who completed his tenure in 2024, secured victory after the party’s primary election held in the state.
Party delegates reportedly backed Bello overwhelmingly, citing his political influence and experience in governance as key factors behind his emergence.
Meanwhile, Daura, speaker of the Katsina State House of Assembly, won the APC senatorial primary for Katsina North Senatorial District in Katsina State.
Daura’s victory is seen as a major political development in the state, as he prepares to transition from the state legislature to national politics.
The APC has continued its nationwide primaries ahead of the 2027 elections, with several high-profile politicians securing tickets across different states.
