Induction Programme for Ambassador-Designates Opens in Abuja
Abuja, Nigeria Monday, April 27, 2026
An induction programme for newly appointed ambassador-designates has commenced in Abuja, with more than 40 envoys participating ahead of their deployment to various countries.
The programme, organised by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, is designed to prepare the diplomats for their roles in representing Nigeria’s interests abroad.
President Bola Ahmed Tinubu charged the ambassador-designates to serve as the “face of Nigeria abroad,” urging them to promote economic diplomacy, attract foreign investment, and protect the welfare of Nigerians in their host countries.
The training is expected to equip participants with essential tools and knowledge in areas such as trade promotion, security cooperation, and consular services, in line with the administration’s Renewed Hope Agenda.
The induction programme is scheduled to conclude on Friday, after which the envoys are expected to proceed to their respective postings.
