Enugu, Nigeria, May 10, 2026

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission Awka and Enugu Zonal Directorates have reaffirmed their commitment to stronger inter-zonal collaboration, intelligence sharing, and operational synergy in the fight against corruption and financial crimes across the South-East region.

The resolution was reached during a strategic working visit by Ofen-Imu Atiba Sunday and his management team to the Enugu Zonal Directorate led by Daniel Isei.

During the meeting, both leaders deliberated on operational efficiency, logistics support, case management, intelligence coordination, and collaborative enforcement strategies aimed at strengthening anti-corruption efforts in the region.

Speaking during the visit, Sunday commended the Enugu Directorate for its support towards the operational growth and stability of the newly established Awka Directorate, despite challenges relating to manpower, mobility, and forensic support.

He noted that the Awka Directorate had already recorded significant operational achievements within a short period, describing the results as evidence of teamwork, mentorship, and institutional cooperation.

According to him, collaboration between the Awka and Enugu Directorates remains essential in addressing the growing intelligence and operational responsibilities confronting the Commission in the South-East.

Responding, Isei described the establishment of the Awka Directorate as a strategic move by the Commission that has reduced operational pressure on the Enugu office while bringing anti-corruption services closer to the people.

He assured the visiting team of continued support in areas such as joint operations, logistics, intelligence coordination, and case management, while emphasising the importance of mentorship, professionalism, and institutional continuity within the Commission.

The Enugu Zonal Director also encouraged both Directorates to deepen collaborative strategies capable of improving investigation and prosecution outcomes across the region.

The visit concluded with the exchange of souvenirs between both Directors as a symbol of unity, partnership, and shared commitment to the anti-corruption mandate of the Commission.
