Nasarawa police confirms safe return of abducted university students, arrests two suspects

Lafia, Nasarawa State, Nigeria, May 12, 2026

The Nigeria Police Force Nasarawa State Command has confirmed the safe return of all abducted students of Nasarawa State University following coordinated rescue operations by security operatives.

In a statement issued by the Command’s Public Relations Officer, Ramhan Nansel, the successful rescue was attributed to the professionalism, resilience, and unwavering commitment of police operatives and other security agencies involved in the operation.

The statement noted that the rescued students have since been reunited with their families and are currently receiving medical attention and other necessary support.

The Command also disclosed that following sustained intelligence-led operations and tactical coordination with sister security agencies, two suspected kidnappers linked to the abduction have been arrested.

Security agencies are currently intensifying efforts to apprehend other fleeing members of the kidnapping syndicate involved in the incident.

Meanwhile, the Commissioner of Police in the state, Shetima Jauro Mohammed, commended members of the public for their support and cooperation, noting that timely information provided by residents contributed significantly to the success of the operation.
