FG Introduces National Textbook Ranking System to Improve Quality and Standardisation in Schools
Abuja, Nigeria, Monday, April 27, 2026
The Federal Government has introduced a National Textbook Ranking System aimed at improving the quality and standardisation of educational materials used in schools across the country.
The initiative is designed to evaluate and rank textbooks based on defined criteria, ensuring that only high-quality, curriculum-aligned materials are recommended for use in classrooms.
According to officials, the system will promote transparency, accountability, and consistency in the selection of textbooks, while supporting better learning outcomes for students.
The programme is also expected to guide schools, teachers, and parents in making informed decisions about educational resources, as well as encourage publishers to meet higher standards in content development.
The Federal Government reaffirmed its commitment to strengthening the education sector through reforms that enhance teaching and learning, improve standards, and align Nigeria’s education system with global best practices.
