INTERNATIONAL JAZZ DAY MARKS 15TH ANNIVERSARY, PROMOTES UNITY AND PEACE THROUGH MUSIC

GLOBAL — APRIL 30, 2026

International Jazz Day is being celebrated worldwide, marking its 15th anniversary as a global observance dedicated to highlighting jazz as a universal language of peace, freedom, and dialogue.

Established in 2011 by UNESCO, the annual event promotes intercultural understanding, human dignity, and the fight against discrimination through music.

This year’s celebration places emphasis on global unity and the power of music to bridge cultural divides, bringing together artists, communities, and audiences across continents.

According to Khaled El-Enany, the observance serves as a reminder of jazz’s unique ability to transcend borders, generations, and cultures.

“This global observance reminds us that jazz is a universal language that transcends borders, generations, and cultures. It invites us to listen deeply, respect each voice, and create together in harmony,” he said.

The 15th-anniversary edition continues to reinforce jazz as not only a musical genre but also a powerful tool for dialogue, inclusion, and peaceful coexistence among nations.
