Fg Declares May 1st As Public Holiday To Mark International Workers’ Day

The Federal Government has declared Friday, May 1, 2026, as a public holiday to commemorate International Workers’ Day.
This was disclosed in a statement issued by the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Interior, Magdalene Ajani, who noted that the declaration was made on behalf of the Federal Government by the Minister of Interior, Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo.
Tunji-Ojo congratulated Nigerian workers on the occasion and commended their contributions to national development. He urged them to remain committed to productivity, patriotism, and dedication to duty.
The minister also assured that the government remains focused on improving workers’ welfare and creating an enabling environment for economic growth across the country.
He further called on Nigerians to remain peaceful and law-abiding, while reflecting on unity, hard work, and collective responsibility as essential elements for nation-building.
