Court Orders Temporary Forfeiture of 9 Properties Linked to Timipre Sylva
Abuja, Nigeria, May 6, 2026
A Federal High Court in Abuja has ordered the interim forfeiture of nine properties allegedly linked to a former Minister of State for Petroleum Resources, Timipre Sylva, to the Federal Government.
The order was granted by Justice Obiora Egwuatu on April 24 following an ex parte application filed by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission.
According to court proceedings, the properties are suspected to be connected to alleged financial infractions under investigation by the anti-graft agency.
The EFCC had urged the court to grant the interim forfeiture pending the conclusion of ongoing investigations into the ownership and acquisition of the assets.
The court’s ruling allows the Federal Government to temporarily take control of the properties while further legal processes continue.
