Lagos To Launch State-Issued Driver’s Licence

The Lagos State Government has announced plans to launch a state-issued driver’s licence in partnership with the Federal Government as part of efforts to improve road safety and traffic management across the state.
Speaking during a press briefing in Ikeja, the Commissioner for Transportation, Oluwaseun Osiyemi, disclosed that Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu is expected to approve the rollout of the licence scheme in the coming weeks.
According to the commissioner, the initiative is designed to strengthen driver identification systems, enhance traffic regulation, and support safer road usage within Lagos State.
The government noted that the partnership with federal authorities would ensure that the licensing framework aligns with national transportation and road safety standards.
