Iran Offers to Reopen Strait of Hormuz, End Conflict if US Lifts Blockade

Tehran, Iran, Monday, April 27, 2026

Iran has reportedly proposed a deal to the United States, offering to reopen the Strait of Hormuz and bring an end to ongoing hostilities if Washington agrees to lift its blockade on the strategic waterway.

According to reports, the proposal was conveyed to US officials through Pakistan, with sources indicating that the arrangement could serve as a pathway to de-escalation in the region.

The reported offer also includes a provision to postpone discussions on Iran’s nuclear programme to a later stage, separating it from immediate efforts to resolve tensions around the Strait of Hormuz.

The development signals a potential diplomatic opening amid heightened geopolitical tensions, with the Strait of Hormuz remaining a critical route for global oil shipments.

While there has been no official confirmation of acceptance, analysts suggest the proposal could provide a basis for renewed dialogue if both parties show willingness to negotiate terms.
