FG Deepens Defence Industry Partnerships at SAHA 2026 in Türkiye

The Federal Government of Nigeria has strengthened efforts to deepen international defence cooperation and expand indigenous military capabilities through strategic engagements at the ongoing SAHA 2026 Defence and Aerospace Exhibition in Türkiye.
The high-level engagements, led by officials of the Defence Headquarters and representatives of the Ministry of Defence, focused on forging stronger partnerships with global defence manufacturers, technology firms, and security stakeholders aimed at enhancing Nigeria’s defence industry and operational capacity.


The Nigerian delegation held a series of bilateral meetings with leading defence companies and institutions during the exhibition, exploring opportunities in technology transfer, local production, military hardware acquisition, research collaboration, and capacity building for the Armed Forces of Nigeria.

Speaking during the engagements, officials emphasized the Federal Government’s commitment to modernising the nation’s defence architecture while promoting local content development in the defence sector. The discussions also centred on strengthening Nigeria’s defence manufacturing ecosystem through partnerships capable of supporting indigenous innovation and long-term self-reliance.

The participation of Nigeria at SAHA 2026 aligns with ongoing reforms under the administration’s security and defence strategy, which seeks to improve operational effectiveness against terrorism, insurgency, banditry, and other emerging security threats.
Representatives of the Defence Headquarters noted that collaboration with international defence partners remains crucial in addressing evolving security challenges and advancing Nigeria’s strategic military objectives.

The SAHA Expo, regarded as one of the leading defence and aerospace exhibitions in the region, brings together global defence industry players, government officials, military leaders, and technology experts to showcase innovations and foster international security cooperation.
Nigeria’s presence at the exhibition further underscores the country’s determination to position itself as a key player in Africa’s defence and security landscape through strategic alliances and investment in modern military technology.
