UNIVERSITY OF MAIDUGURI TEACHING HOSPITAL COMMENCES A THREE DAY CLINICAL GOVERNANCE WORKSHOP

MAIDUGURI, NIGERIA — MAY 20, 2026

The University of Maiduguri Teaching Hospital has commenced a three-day clinical governance workshop aimed at improving patient safety, promoting accountability, and enhancing the quality of healthcare service delivery.

The programme brings together healthcare professionals, administrators, and medical experts to address clinical risks and strengthen standards of care within the institution.

Speaking at the opening of the workshop, the Chief Medical Director of the hospital, Prof. Ahmed Ahidjo, said the initiative would strengthen professionalism and encourage greater responsibility among healthcare workers in meeting patients’ needs.

According to him, the workshop is designed to improve the overall healthcare system within the hospital by promoting best practices in clinical governance and ensuring effective service delivery.

Prof. Ahidjo noted that the training would also equip participants with practical strategies for risk management, clinical effectiveness, and improved patient-centred care.

Participants are expected to engage in interactive sessions and discussions focused on enhancing accountability, reducing clinical errors, and fostering a culture of continuous improvement in healthcare services.
