Abuja, Nigeria – May 20, 2026
The Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of Nigeria Liquefied Natural Gas Limited, Leye Falade, has commended the Executive Chairman of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, Ola Olukoyede, for what he described as impressive achievements in the fight against corruption, economic sabotage and financial crimes in Nigeria.
Falade gave the commendation on Tuesday during a courtesy visit by the top management team of NLNG to the EFCC corporate headquarters in Abuja.
According to him, the anti-graft agency under Olukoyede’s leadership has demonstrated courage, commitment and resilience in tackling corruption and financial crimes across the country.
“I want to acknowledge the great strides that have been made in the fight against economic sabotage and financial crimes. I think it can only be left to imagination what you face as you do this on a national level,” Falade said.
He further praised the EFCC chairman for his determination and dedication to duty, noting that the efforts of the Commission have contributed to creating a safer and more transparent business environment for corporate organizations operating in Nigeria.
“I want to personally, on behalf of the company, appreciate your tenacity, courage and your commitment. We feel and understand you; we appreciate what you have to do in this duty, and we’re grateful for that because without that, we would not be safeguarded to do the work that we need to do,” he added.
Falade also stated that NLNG has embedded strong ethical standards and governance principles within its operations through internal processes designed to uphold transparency, fairness and regulatory compliance.
“We are guided by ethics and ethos that will not only stand in Nigeria, but outside the country. We are proud to say that as a company we will continue to be above board. We are very much aligned with your aspirations,” he said.
He noted that the company recognizes the importance of integrity in strengthening Nigeria’s image and maintaining investor confidence.
Responding, Olukoyede expressed appreciation for the visit and emphasized the strategic importance of NLNG to Nigeria’s economy, particularly within the oil and gas sector.
“Without oil and gas, probably Nigeria will not be standing today,” the EFCC chairman said while commending NLNG for maintaining ethical standards over the years.
Olukoyede acknowledged that the Commission and NLNG once had a difficult working relationship but noted that the issues had since been resolved, pledging continued collaboration between both institutions.
“I want to extend a hand of fellowship to you. We’re willing to work with you. Our mandate is not only to enforce, we also prevent, collaborate and create awareness,” he stated.
The EFCC boss reiterated that his leadership approach is focused on stimulating economic growth while ensuring compliance with financial regulations.
He disclosed that the Commission established the Fraud Risk Assessment and Control (FRAC) Department about two years ago to help ministries, departments, agencies and corporate organizations identify and reduce fraud risks.
“With FRAC we go into the MDAs, we look into their fraud risk and see how we can work with them to ensure that we reduce such risks and look into their financial records and the tax liability to ensure that they don’t flout financial laws,” Olukoyede explained.
He assured NLNG of the Commission’s support in addressing internal vulnerabilities that could expose organizations to fraudulent practices, encouraging the company to seek assistance whenever necessary.
