38 Abductees in Eruku Regain Freedom After Coordinated Security Operation
Eruku, Kwara State — November 23, 2025
Thirty-eight abducted persons from Eruku in the Ekiti Local Government Area of Kwara State have regained their freedom following days of intense security operations and coordinated governmental intervention.
The development was confirmed in a statement issued by the Chief Press Secretary to the Kwara State Governor, Rafiu Ajakaye, who noted that the rescue was the result of “many days of hard work by security forces and government representatives.”
According to the statement, the abductees were successfully freed today, November 23, 2025.
Governor Abdulrahman Abdulrazaq expressed profound appreciation to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, GCFR, acknowledging the President’s decisive involvement in the rescue efforts. The Governor commended President Tinubu for personally leading the intervention and for deploying additional security personnel to bolster operations in the state.
The Governor also extended gratitude to key national security institutions for their roles in the successful rescue. These include:

The Department of State Services (DSS)
The Nigerian Army
The Nigerian Intelligence Agency (NIA)
The Nigeria Police Force, which deployed new tactical teams on the President’s directive
Governor Abdulrazaq described the collaboration as a reflection of the federal government’s commitment to the safety of citizens and the restoration of peace in affected communities across the country.
The rescued individuals have since been received by the authorities, with arrangements underway to ensure their medical evaluation, rehabilitation, and safe reunion with their families.
