OPERATION ZAFIN WUTA: 6 BRIGADE TROOPS ARREST NOTORIOUS KIDNAPPER IN WUKARI, INTENSIFY SEARCH FOR VICTIM
Wukari, Taraba State — 23 November 2025
Troops of the 6 Brigade, Nigerian Army, operating under Sector 3 of Operation Whirl Stroke (OPWS), have achieved another significant breakthrough under OPERATION ZAFIN WUTA with the arrest of a wanted and notorious kidnapping suspect in Wukari Local Government Area of Taraba State.
Acting on actionable and credible intelligence, troops successfully apprehended Mr. Umar Musa Geyi on 22 November 2025 at Jandei-Kulamu in Wukari LGA. The suspect, long sought by security agencies, is believed to be a key operative of a kidnapping syndicate responsible for a series of abductions and violent crimes in the region.
Preliminary investigation links Mr. Geyi to the kidnapping of Alhaji Jano, a Fulani resident of the Jandei-Kulala axis, who was abducted on 13 November 2025 and remains in captivity. The arrest was effected after troops intercepted the suspect during a phone conversation in which he confirmed the victim was still alive and demanded a ₦20 million ransom for his release.
Mr. Geyi is currently in military custody undergoing intensive interrogation aimed at uncovering the whereabouts of the victim and assisting in efforts to ensure his safe rescue.
Commending the troops for their swift and decisive action, the Commander, 6 Brigade Nigerian Army, Brigadier General Kingsley Chidiebere Uwa, reiterated the Brigade’s unwavering commitment to dismantling criminal networks across Taraba State. He assured the public that the ongoing operations under OPERATION ZAFIN WUTA will continue until all perpetrators of insecurity are brought to justice.
General Uwa further urged residents to remain vigilant and to provide timely and credible information to security agencies, stressing that community cooperation remains vital in restoring lasting peace and stability in the state.
