PRESIDENT TINUBU APPOINTS MS. ADEDAYO BENJAMIN LANIYI AS DG/CEO OF THE MARYAM BABANGIDA NATIONAL CENTRE FOR WOMEN DEVELOPMENT

Abuja, Nigeria,15 May 2026

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has approved the appointment of Ms. Adedayo Benjamin Laniyi as the Director-General/Chief Executive Officer of the Maryam Babangida National Centre for Women Development (MBNCWD), alongside the constitution of the Centre’s Governing Council for an initial term of four (4) years.

According to a letter signed by the Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Senator George Akume, the appointment takes effect from 18 April 2026. The decision is made in accordance with the provisions of Section 7 (1) and (3) of the National Centre for Women Development (Amendment) Act, 2023.

President Tinubu also approved the formation of the Governing Council of the Centre, which will be chaired by Princess Joan Jummai Idonije.
Other appointed members of the Governing Council include Ms. Lois Auta, Hon. Jamila Sarki, Aisha Baiyee, Hon. Jumoke Okoya-Thomas, and Princess Anne Agom-Eze.
The President congratulated the newly appointed Director-General and members of the Governing Council, wishing them success in their new roles and responsibilities.

The Maryam Babangida National Centre for Women Development is a key national institution focused on advancing women’s empowerment, gender inclusion, and development initiatives across Nigeria.
