EBONYI STATE GOVERNOR ORDERS FULL INVESTIGATION INTO OKPOROJO COMMUNITY ATTACK

The Governor of Ebonyi State, Francis Ogbonna Nwifuru, has ordered security agencies to carry out a comprehensive investigation into the circumstances surrounding the recent attack on the people of Oso Edda in Edda Local Government Area of the state.
This directive was contained in a statement issued by the Chief Press Secretary to the Governor, Dr. Monday Uzor, who described the attack as barbaric and a flagrant disregard for the sanctity of human life.
According to the statement, Governor Nwifuru expressed deep shock over the incident, which reportedly claimed lives and led to the destruction of property in the affected community.
“I received with rude shock the news of the recent attack on Oso Edda which claimed lives and led to destruction of property. This act of callousness is a direct affront to our commitment to restoring peace in our communities, and we cannot tolerate it,” the Governor warned.
The Governor emphasized that the protection of lives and property remains a top priority of his administration, assuring residents that no effort would be spared in unraveling the root cause of the incident.
“As a government, the security of lives and property of our people is of utmost importance, and no effort will be spared to get to the root of the matter,” he stated.
The statement further revealed that the Ebonyi State Government is working closely with law enforcement agencies to identify and apprehend the perpetrators, while also appealing to the affected community to remain calm and refrain from acts of reprisal.
Governor Nwifuru has consequently directed security operatives to swiftly mobilize to the area to prevent further attacks or retaliatory actions.
“My prayers and thoughts are with the families who lost their loved ones and property in this unfortunate incident. Rest assured that they will not be left alone,” the Governor added.
He also called on communities across the state to always embrace peaceful coexistence, stressing that meaningful development cannot thrive in an atmosphere of violence and destruction.
