Asaya, Kogi State — February 4, 2026
The Director-General of the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC), Brigadier General Olakunle Nafiu, has advised Corps Members to remain security-conscious and avoid actions that could expose them to danger throughout their service year.
General Nafiu gave the advice while addressing the 2026 Batch “A” Stream One Corps Members at the NYSC Kogi State Orientation Camp, Asaya. He urged them to shun night journeys and other risky engagements, stressing that personal safety should always be a top priority.
The NYSC Director-General also encouraged the Corps Members to be productive and make effective use of the service year to build strong networks of friendship that would open doors to greater opportunities in the future. He further admonished them to be disciplined, committed to their places of primary assignment, and to cultivate a savings culture alongside prudent financial management.
Earlier in his remarks, the NYSC Kogi State Coordinator, Mr. Femi Osungbohun, informed the Director-General that a total of 1,049 Corps Members had been registered for the orientation exercise. He noted that the Corps Members had displayed a commendable level of discipline since their arrival in camp.
Mr. Osungbohun added that all camp activities were progressing smoothly, attributing the success recorded so far to the dedication and teamwork of camp officials.
