Wike Pledges PDP Renewal and Unity at 2026 Convention

Nyesom Wike, addressing delegates at the 2026 People’s Democratic Party (PDP) National Convention, described the event as a “day to continue party renewal and unite the PDP,” while affirming that the party will remain a strong contender in the 2027 elections.
Wike reflected on the party’s journey, noting that it had overcome tragic leadership crises, fought to reclaim control, and returned the party to its rightful owners. “By this convention, we have put to shame those who wanted the party dead,” he stated.
He emphasized that effective leadership requires courage, commitment, and firmness. “Those who took our mandates… we will take it back,” Wike declared, urging party members to work toward reclaiming lost mandates and ensuring the PDP’s political relevance at all levels.
The convention reinforced the party’s resolve to strengthen internal cohesion, project unity, and prepare strategically for the 2027 electoral contests, signaling a determined comeback for the PDP.
