Troops of Sector Two, Joint Task Force North West Operation FANSAN YAMMA, have eliminated three terrorists during a military operation in Zamfara State and recovered several weapons and ammunition.
According to a statement by the Media Information Officer of Operation FANSAN YAMMA, Aliyu Danja, the operation was carried out in the early hours of Thursday and targeted criminal hideouts in Kaura Namoda and Birnin Magaji Local Government Areas.
The troops reportedly engaged the armed terrorists in a gun battle during a fighting patrol at Doumbourum Village.
Items recovered during the operation include one AK-47 rifle, one machine gun, one locally fabricated handgun, seven rifle magazines, and 571 rounds of ammunition.
The statement noted that the troops overpowered the terrorists with superior firepower, forcing them to flee with heavy casualties, while no casualty was recorded among security personnel.
Operation FANSAN YAMMA reaffirmed its commitment to restoring peace and security across Zamfara State and the wider North West region, urging residents to continue supporting security agencies with timely and credible information.
