The Nigerian Army has eliminated suspected terrorists operating within Kogi State during a coordinated security operation along bandit crossing points in the Adankolo Forest Reserve area of Lokoja Local Government Area.
According to a statement by Hassan Abdullahi, troops of the 12 Brigade Quick Response Group acted on credible intelligence regarding the movement of suspected terrorists within the area.
The statement explained that in the early hours of Sunday, May 10, 2026, troops laid ambush along the suspected crossing route and engaged the terrorists in a firefight, successfully neutralising some of them while others escaped with gunshot wounds into the surrounding bush.
Items recovered after the operation included two AK-47 rifles, one fabricated pistol, six magazines, and 145 rounds of 7.62mm special ammunition.
Troops also recovered a camouflage bandolier, one Honda motorcycle, Diclofenac medication, three mobile phones, three power banks, and the sum of ₦62,900.
The Army said the operation forms part of ongoing efforts under Operation TIGER PAW II to deny terrorists freedom of movement and strengthen security across Kogi State and adjoining areas.
Troops are currently conducting follow-up operations to track down and apprehend fleeing members of the criminal group.
