NPF Nasarawa Command Foils Midnight Abduction, One Suspect Dies in Gun Battle

Nasarawa State, Nigeria, May 7, 2026

The Nasarawa State Command of the Nigeria Police Force has dismantled a suspected kidnapping syndicate in Rukubi Community, Doma Local Government Area, arresting eight suspects and recovering two AK-47 rifles.

According to a statement by the police, the operation followed intelligence reports that armed men invaded the community at night, fired sporadically, and abducted two residents.

Police operatives, working alongside other security agencies and local vigilantes, reportedly tracked down and arrested the suspects linked to the attack.

The suspects were identified as Adamu Alfa, Muhammed Alfa, Shuaibu Alfa, Usman Alfa, Ali Alfa, Isa Alfa, and Ja’afaru Alfa, all said to be from Rugan Alhaji Alfa in Rukubi Village.

Items recovered during the operation included two AK-47 rifles, four Bajaj motorcycles, and expended 7.62mm ammunition shells.

The police also disclosed that one of the suspects died from injuries sustained during a gun duel with security operatives.

Inspector-General of Police, Olatunji Rilwan Disu, commended the operation, describing it as a major outcome of intelligence-led policing and effective collaboration with local communities.

He reaffirmed the commitment of the police to rescuing the abducted victims and sustaining pressure on criminal networks operating across the country.
