State House, Abuja, February 6, 2026

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu on Thursday received the National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Professor Nentawe Yilwatda, alongside the President of the Senate, Godswill Akpabio, and other key stakeholders of the ruling party at the State House, Abuja.

Speaking after the meeting, Professor Yilwatda said the APC leadership is making deliberate efforts to ensure inclusivity and unity among party members, despite the party’s expanding membership base across the country. He noted that managing diversity within a growing political party requires constant engagement and consultation.

The meeting, which was attended by some high-ranking members of the National Assembly and several state governors, was aimed at updating President Tinubu on preparations ahead of the party’s forthcoming national convention.

According to the APC National Chairman, the party recently constituted a 73-member Central Coordination Committee for its 2026 National Convention. The committee is chaired by the Governor of Imo State and Chairman of the Progressive Governors’ Forum, Hope Uzodimma.

Professor Yilwatda assured that necessary structures are being put in place to guarantee a smooth and successful convention, stressing that the party leadership remains focused on strengthening internal democracy and cohesion.
He added that the APC leadership would continue to work closely with the President and other stakeholders to ensure the party remains united and well-positioned to deliver on its mandate to Nigerians.
