VP Kashim Shettima Visits Kwara State Over Tragic Terrorist Attack

Vice President Kashim Shettima has visited Kwara State to assess the aftermath of a tragic terrorist attack that claimed over 100 lives in Woro and Nuku communities of Kaiama Local Government Area of the state.

Aisha Abubakar-Yahaya reports that the Vice President’s visit underscores the Federal Government’s unwavering commitment to addressing security challenges and restoring peace in affected communities.

The Vice President arrived at the Babatunde Idiagbon International Airport, Ilorin, where he was received by the Governor of Kwara State, Abdulrahman Abdulrazaq, alongside top government officials. During the visit, Vice President Shettima conveyed President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s resolve to ensure that those responsible for the heinous attack in Woro and surrounding communities are tracked down and brought to justice.

He assured the people of Kwara State that the Federal Government is taking decisive steps to strengthen security in the area, noting that battalions and tactical teams deployed to the axis have been fully mobilized to confront the perpetrators and prevent further attacks.

The Vice President also disclosed that efforts are ongoing to provide support to victims of the attack, including humanitarian assistance, while security agencies continue to coordinate responses to stabilize the affected communities.

Reassuring residents, Vice President Shettima stated that the Federal Government would not allow terrorists any breathing space, emphasizing that the safety of lives and property remains a top priority.

Scores of residents were reportedly massacred, with many houses set ablaze in Woro and Nuku communities of Kaiama Local Government Area by terrorists. The attackers are alleged to have carried out the violence after the communities refused to submit to extremists who sought to impose a strange doctrine on them.

The visit offered a measure of comfort to grieving residents, as the Federal Government reiterated its commitment to justice, security, and lasting peace in Kwara State and beyond.
