Edo Court Jails Man for $19,400 Bitcoin Fraud

Benin City, Edo State, Nigeria, March 26, 2026

The Benin Zonal Directorate of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has secured the conviction of Osamudiamen Philip Ikilo for a $19,400 Bitcoin fraud.

The convict was arraigned on a one-count charge bordering on stealing before Justice W.I. Aziegbemhin of the Edo State High Court sitting in Benin City.

Upon his arraignment, Ikilo pleaded not guilty to the charge, prompting the commencement of a full trial by the court.

Following the presentation of evidence by the prosecution, the court found him guilty and consequently convicted and sentenced him in accordance with the law.

The EFCC reiterated its commitment to tackling financial crimes, including those involving digital assets such as cryptocurrency, and warned members of the public against engaging in fraudulent activities.
