Tunde Olusunle Raises Questions Over Alleged N800 Billion Governors’ Fund Dispute

ABUJA, Nigeria — May 19, 2026

Political commentator and public affairs analyst, Tunde Olusunle, has stirred fresh debate over an alleged N800 billion controversy involving state governors and internal tensions within the Progressives Governors Forum (PGF).
In a strongly worded commentary published by , Olusunle alleged that the fund “was indeed going the way of what Yorubas will describe as ole gbe, ole gba,” a phrase which translates to “a thief stealing from a thief.”

According to him, Hope Uzodimma, who serves as chairman of the PGF, was entrusted with managing the massive fund but allegedly came under pressure from fellow governors over accountability concerns.

Olusunle claimed that tensions escalated after Uzodimma reportedly “stammered and dithered” while attempting to explain the handling of the money, leading to dissatisfaction among some governors within the forum.

The commentary further alleged that 18 out of the 31 governors backed a move to replace Uzodimma with Peter Mbah, whom Olusunle described as one of the standout performers among the current crop of governors.
However, the reported attempt to unseat Uzodimma was said to have been halted following the intervention of President Bola Tinubu, who allegedly called from France to request that the existing leadership structure remain unchanged.

Olusunle also referenced comments by Ijeomah Arodiogbu, whose defence of Uzodimma, he argued, failed to significantly alter public perception surrounding the allegations.

The claims have continued to generate reactions across political circles, although no official statement has yet been issued by the PGF or the individuals mentioned regarding the allegations.
