The Honourable Chairman of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), Joash O. Amupitan, has extended warm Easter greetings to staff of the Commission across the Federation, urging them to embrace the spirit of sacrifice, renewal, and dedication in the discharge of their duties.
In his Easter message, Professor Amupitan addressed National Commissioners, the Secretary to the Commission, Resident Electoral Commissioners, Directors, Administrative Secretaries, and staff nationwide, noting that Easter symbolizes hope, sacrifice, and renewal—values that resonate deeply with the Commission’s mandate.

He described the commitment of INEC staff, often working under challenging conditions and away from their families, as a reflection of true sacrifice in service to democracy. According to him, their efforts—whether at local government offices or the national headquarters—continue to sustain and strengthen Nigeria’s democratic process.
Reflecting on the first quarter of 2026, the Chairman commended staff for their professionalism during the FCT Area Council Elections, stating that their collective effort not only ensured the successful conduct of the polls but also helped restore public confidence in democratic institutions.

Looking ahead to upcoming off-cycle elections and key milestones in the Commission’s 2027 roadmap, he encouraged staff to draw inspiration from the season of renewal by recommitting themselves to excellence, transparency, and resilience in safeguarding the sovereign will of the people.
Professor Amupitan also assured staff of the Commission’s ongoing efforts to create a conducive work environment where excellence is rewarded, discipline is maintained, and personnel are equipped with modern tools to thrive in the evolving digital landscape of election management.
He urged all staff to embody the virtues of peace, love, and selfless service in their interactions, emphasizing that maintaining neutrality and professionalism remains essential to upholding the rule of law and public trust.

The INEC Chairman concluded by praying for peace, renewed strength, and unity among staff, expressing confidence that together they would continue to build an institution that stands as a beacon of democracy in Nigeria and across Africa.
He wished all staff a Happy Easter and invoked blessings on INEC and the Federal Republic of Nigeria.
