Ogun State Declares August 20th as Public Holiday for Isese Day Celebration

Abeokuta, Ogun State — The Ogun State Government has officially declared Tuesday, August 20th, as a public holiday in observance of this year’s Isese Day, reaffirming its commitment to religious inclusivity under the administration of Governor Dapo Abiodun.

In a statement released by the Special Adviser to the Governor on Media and Strategy, Hon. Kayode Akinmade, the work-free day has been set aside to allow traditional worshippers across the state to celebrate their special day. Isese Day is an annual festival that honors the traditions and practices of the Yoruba religion.

The statement emphasized Ogun State’s reputation as an exemplary federating unit with a commendable level of religious harmony, even amidst its diverse population. The government called on traditional worshippers to celebrate the day with moderation, urging them to respect the rights of those practicing other religions. This, the statement noted, is crucial to maintaining the culture of religious tolerance that Ogun State has long been known for.

Furthermore, the government encouraged adherents to use the festive period as an opportunity to pray for peace and economic prosperity, both in Ogun State and across Nigeria. The statement highlighted the significant role that prayers play in the success and progress of a nation.

As Isese Day approaches, the Ogun State Government remains steadfast in its dedication to fostering an environment of mutual respect and religious freedom for all its citizens.
