Minister of Women Affairs Promises to Broker Peace Between Senate President Akpabio and Senator Natasha

The Minister of Women Affairs, Imaan Suleiman-Ibrahim, has pledged to mediate and broker peace between Senate President Godswill Akpabio and Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan of Kogi Central. The ongoing rift between the two lawmakers has escalated, raising concerns about its potential impact on women’s representation in the National Assembly.  

The Minister made the commitment while addressing State House correspondents during the periodic briefing organized by the Presidential Media Team, known as “Meet the Press.”  

“The ongoing issues between the Senate President and Senator Natasha are of great concern, especially as they threaten to undermine the progress we have made in promoting women’s representation in the National Assembly. I am committed to brokering peace between the parties to ensure that the interests of women and the nation are protected,” Suleiman-Ibrahim stated.  

The Minister emphasized the importance of unity and collaboration among lawmakers, particularly in advancing gender equality and women’s participation in governance. She expressed confidence that through dialogue and mutual understanding, the issues can be resolved amicably.  

The rift between Senate President Akpabio and Senator Natasha has drawn widespread attention, with many stakeholders calling for intervention to prevent further escalation. The Minister’s intervention is seen as a timely and necessary step to restore harmony and ensure that the legislative agenda is not derailed by internal conflicts.
