Tinubu Has Given Unprecedented Support to Governors — Gov. Uba Sani Declares in Kaduna
Kaduna, Nigeria – July 29, 2025
Governor Uba Sani of Kaduna State has stated that no Nigerian president has ever offered the level of support to governors and sub-national governments that President Bola Ahmed Tinubu is currently providing, making it difficult for any state leader to oppose his re-election in 2027.
Governor Sani made the declaration during the opening of a two-day interactive session on government-citizen engagement, organized by the Sir Ahmadu Bello Memorial Foundation (SABMF) at Arewa House, Kaduna.
“No president in Nigeria’s history has supported governors and sub-national governments the way President Bola Ahmed Tinubu is currently doing,” Governor Sani asserted.
“As a result, it is unlikely that any governor in Nigeria would go against the president.”
According to the Kaduna State Governor, the Tinubu administration has also introduced a novel approach to national development by actively involving non-state actors in strategic discussions, particularly on challenges affecting northern Nigeria.
“For the first time in Nigeria’s history, the government is engaging with non-state actors to discuss progress and assess the situation in northern Nigeria. This unprecedented approach reflects a shift in how national issues are being addressed,” he added.
Governor Sani’s remarks come amid growing speculation about President Tinubu’s re-election prospects in 2027. His comments underscore the significant political capital and influence Tinubu continues to wield among state governors and within the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC).
The session, organized by SABMF, aims to bridge communication gaps between the government and citizens, and explore policy solutions for sustainable development, especially in the northern region.
The governor’s speech has been interpreted by analysts as a signal of unity among state executives under President Tinubu’s leadership and a reflection of the evolving political landscape heading toward the next general elections.
