STATEMENT BY THE FIRST LADY ON THE ASSAULT OF WOMEN AND GIRLS DURING THE ALUE-DO FESTIVAL IN OZORO, DELTA STATE

The First Lady of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, Senator Oluremi Tinubu, has expressed deep concern over the reported assaults on women and girls during the Alue-Do Festival in Ozoro, Delta State.

In a statement shared via official channels, the First Lady condemned the incidents, emphasizing that violence against women and girls is unacceptable and contrary to the values of dignity, respect, and safety that every society must uphold. She called for prompt and thorough investigations to ensure that the perpetrators are held accountable under the law.

Senator Tinubu further urged authorities at all levels, including law enforcement agencies and community leaders, to intensify measures that protect women and girls during public events and festivals. She highlighted the need for increased awareness, community vigilance, and proactive steps to prevent such incidents from recurring.
