President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has congratulated Ekiti State Governor, Biodun Abayomi Oyebanji, on his victory in Saturday’s governorship election, describing the outcome as a clear demonstration of the confidence reposed in him by the people of the state.
In a statement issued by the President’s Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, President Tinubu commended the people of Ekiti State for conducting themselves peacefully and responsibly throughout the electoral process.

The President also praised security agencies for maintaining law and order before, during, and after the election, noting that their efforts contributed significantly to the peaceful conduct of the polls.
According to the statement, Tinubu said the outcome of the election reflected the trust and support Governor Oyebanji has earned through his administration’s programmes and policies.
The President further charged the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to sustain efforts toward conducting peaceful, free, fair, and credible elections as the nation prepares for the forthcoming Osun State governorship election and the 2027 general elections.
Tinubu noted that with the victory, Governor Oyebanji has become the first governor in the history of Ekiti State to secure back-to-back re-election victories, describing the achievement as a significant political milestone.
The President attributed the governor’s electoral success to what he described as notable accomplishments recorded during his first term in office. He highlighted progress in infrastructure development, agriculture, youth empowerment, education, healthcare delivery, and rural development under the administration’s BAO Agenda.
While congratulating the governor, Tinubu urged him to remain magnanimous in victory and continue to govern inclusively by carrying all segments of the state’s population along in the next phase of his administration.
He emphasized the need for unity and collaboration in advancing the development of Ekiti State, regardless of political affiliations.
The President also commended other candidates who participated in the election, stating that their involvement reflected the strength of Nigeria’s democratic process and the constitutional right of citizens to seek public office through legitimate means.
He called on all political actors and stakeholders in the state to put the election behind them and work together in the interest of the people.
“It is now time to rally round Governor Oyebanji in the task of taking Ekiti to the next level of governance,” the statement quoted the President as saying.
Tinubu concluded by praying for wisdom, strength, good health, and divine guidance for Governor Oyebanji as he embarks on another term in office.
The Ekiti governorship election is widely regarded as one of the key electoral contests ahead of Nigeria’s next general election cycle, with political observers closely monitoring its implications for governance, political stability, and electoral administration in the country.
With the election concluded, attention is expected to shift toward the implementation of development programmes and the fulfilment of campaign promises aimed at improving the welfare of residents and accelerating growth across Ekiti State.
